All Basset Hounds come in different shapes and sizes. We here like the qualities that comes with the Bassets, especially the "Long Ears".
Our program strives to have the longest ears ever, and a lineage full of champions. The world's record for the longest eared Basset Hound is nearly 12 inches.
We have some here at 10.5-11inches and are
trying to beat that record. It's amazing how fast those little ears at birth grow so fast! When the puppies are born they look like most of all breeds. When they reach 4 weeks old, you can see more of the Basset Hound coming out in those ears. As they get older, say by the 10 week old age, you will be like "oh my gosh", I just want to tie them up so you don't trip! We have placed some stages
of our Appalachian Bigfoot Grillie growing, you can see the difference. The ears plays a big part in the Basset Hound breed and should be touching the nose or more by 6 weeks old.
